Eugeniusz Chrobak i Andrzej Marciniak zdobyli Everest 24 maja 1989 r tzw zachodnią drogą, zwaną też jugosłowiańską. Tragedia rozegrała się w drodze powrotnej gdy wydawało się, ze już są bezpieczni. 27 maja 1989 r w lawinie na Lho La zgineli : Mirosław Falco-Dąsal, Mirosław Gardzielewski, Zygmunt Andrzej Heinrich and Andrzej Otręba. Zdobywca Everestu Eugeniusz Chrobak zmarł następnego dnia. Tylko Marciniak uratował się z tamtej tragedii. [...]
